The International Choreography Competition has been organised by the Ballett Gesellschaft Hannover since 1987 and celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2021. This unique event is a forum for promoting young talent from all over the world. The competition offers one of the few opportunities for dancers to test themselves as choreographers. During its more than thirty years of existence, this event has thus developed into the centre for young choreographers in Europe, if not worldwide. In addition to the cash prizes, 6 production prizes are now awarded: in 2021 these are the Scapino Production Prize, the Bundesjugendballett Production Prize, the MiR Dance Company Award Production Prize, the NTM Production Prize of the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Pforzheim Theatre Production Prize and the Tanja Liedtke Foundation Production Prize at the Staatstheater Hannover.
