Production house, organizer and guest performance venue in Leipzig
Since its foundation in 1997, LOFFT has developed into a nationally and internationally recognized co-producer, organizer and guest performance venue for contemporary dance, post-dramatic theater and performance art in Leipzig.
LOFFT operates as a non-profit organization on the basis of a non-profit association supported by artists, companies and dedicated citizens. LOFFT is therefore also strongly committed to representing the interests of independent performing artists in cultural policy structures and debates at local, regional and national level.
The LOFFT TANZOFFENSIVE is Leipzig's largest festival for contemporary dance and takes place on a biennial basis. The festival started in 2007 as a exploratory festival for new trends and signatures and to show internationally acclaimed productions in Leipzig. A conceptual sharpening led to strong thematic focuses, such as Mixed Abilities and Inclusion in 2013. In addition to the TANZOFFENSIVE festival, the house co-produces and presents contemporary dance pieces throughout the year and cooperates with other organizers in the guest performance ring tanztausch. Around the respective performance itself, the house develops complete programs with elements such as audience discussions, workshops or classes. Aside from this, LOFFT is a partner of the euro-scene Leipzig festival and OFF EUROPA.
