ID_Frankfurt e. V. (Independent Dance and Performance) is a non-profit association of freelance artists*, theorists* and mediators in choreography and performance working in Frankfurt am Main and the surrounding area.
The association was founded in 2009 to improve the working situation and for self-organisation. The activities of ID_Frankfurt are developed and supported by the members in a collaborative and solidary way of working. A changing voluntary board accompanies and supports these processes and ensures continuous cultural-political work.
ID_Frankfurt organizes the biennial festival “Implantieren”, a format for site-specific performances, and founded the Z - Centre for Rehearsals and Research. ID_Frankfurt is campaigning for balanced and well-equipped dance and theater funding and appropriate production and presentation conditions in Frankfurt. To this end, the association is in dialogue with colleagues in the independent scene, with the theaters as well as with the Department for Culture, the Department of Culture and cultural policy. The improvements for freelance performance, dance and choreography artists in Frankfurt that have been achieved together since 2009 - such as the restructuring of funding, the introduction of the Theatre Advisory Board and the increase in state funding - were significantly shaped by ID_Frankfurt.
ID_Frankfurt is currently committed to a renewed evaluation of the funding structure and is campaigning for a production house and festival format for freelance artists in the performing arts in Frankfurt.
