E-WERK Freiburg e.V.

At E-WERK Freiburg, the focus is on the production and presentation of contemporary performing and visual arts. As a socio-cultural centre, E-WERK is funded by the city of Freiburg and the state of Baden-Württemberg and is a member of the Landesverband soziokultureller Zentren BW (LAKS Baden-Württemberg). E-WERK organises a cultural programme in the fields of dance, theatre, music and contemporary art with a focus on cultural education and intercultural cultural work in the various rooms of the building. As part of the TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund funding programme, E-WERK has set itself the task of strengthening the dance sector at the theatre and actively supporting the independent scene.

Together with the Freiburg Theatre and the Theater im Marienbad, E-WERK organises the “Freiburg Festival” every two years, which has a dance focus in addition to its thematic focus and has grown out of the renowned Freiburg Dance Festival.

Up to twelve dance premieres from the regional Freiburg scene take place at E-WERK every year, five to six of which are in the large E-WERK hall, the second largest stage in Freiburg. These include the choreographers Emi Miyoshi, Karolin Stächele, Michael Langeneckert, Nadine Gerspacher and Laura Heinecke. We also support up-and-coming choreographers with their productions. To this end, we make our rehearsal space and the experimental stage at SÜDUFER and the Kammertheater available for collaborations with the independent scene
