Deutsches Tanzfilminstitut Bremen

The German Dance Film Institute Bremen is a national archive for the collection, processing and production of audiovisual dance documents and was founded in 1991 as a non-profit organisation.

The Institute supports the work of choreographers, dance companies, theatres, specialist journalists and television broadcasters by making the collected material available and helps with the production and restoration of dance videos and films.

Users can access information about the archived material via a specially developed database. The archive, whose holdings are constantly being expanded and updated, currently comprises over 12,000 video tapes.

The institute creates its own video productions, develops event and lecture series and co-operates with other cultural institutions on a project basis. Video recordings and editing are carried out to television standards (Betacam SP, analogue and non-linear editing).
