Celebrating the diversity of European dance and cultural cohesion—without language barriers
"At the first International Dance Gala at the Theater Trier, renowned companies will celebrate contemporary dance. Italy, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, and of course Germany: Ballet Director Roberto Scafati has invited renowned companies from all over Europe to Trier. The International Dance Gala presents a “comprehensive cross-section of the diversity of contemporary dance in Europe—from classical to neoclassical to contemporary, all styles are represented,” says Scafati. Without language barriers and open to all, Theater Trier celebrates the diversity of European dance and cultural cohesion with its guests through the universal language of movement.
The evening offers a compact, intense, and unique showcase of strong personalities and distinctive dance styles on stage. The program features Introdans Holland performing an excerpt from “In Memoriam” by the internationally renowned choreographer and Geneva Ballet director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. The Staatsballett Berlin presents a neoclassical pas de deux by Christian Spuck, while the Bühnen Bern and the Ballet of Flanders from Antwerp, along with the Nuovo Balletto di Toscana, the Copenhagen Contemporary Ballet, and the Ballet de l’Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse, add further international highlights. The program is rounded out by companies from Linz, Halberstadt, and Nordhausen."
An evening of dance at the highest level. It’s rare to see such a concentration of Europe, dance, and cultural diversity at the Theater Trier!"
