TANZ LINZ - Tanzcompagnie des Musiktheater Linz

“At TANZ LINZ, we see diversity as a way of life: different bodies, backgrounds, and artistic styles come together to form a collective language. Dance thus becomes a space for encounter, exchange, and mutual transformation.”

Current production:

Amor & Psyche? A dance piece by Jeroen Verbruggen

Information

Belgian choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen is known worldwide for his reinterpretations of classical themes for large dance ensembles. With TANZ LINZ, he presents his personal exploration of the ancient myth of Cupid and Psyche.

The focus is on Psyche’s search for self-love as a prerequisite for loving another person. In the impressive finale, the intriguing question mark of the title finds its resolution. For the eternal question of why this wild whirlpool of emotions must be relived again and again finds its purpose in discovering true love and experiencing a fulfilling partnership full of pleasure, joy, and desire.

In his creation, Verbruggen combines a finely nuanced choreography with humor and a love of detail. The accompaniment by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz provides an engaging musical framework, ranging from compositions by Charles Ives and Gabriel Fauré to a Greek pop song by Alkistis Protopsalti.
