The practice of modern dance, recently included in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage, has a long tradition in eastern Germany in particular. This extends from Hellerau through the schools of Mary Wigman and Gret Palucca to the present day, as the diverse collection of the Tanzarchiv in Leipzig shows. The aim of this matinee with a tour of the exhibition and discussion at the Bibliotheca Albertina is to provide impulses on how to promote the examination of this important cultural heritage and make it more accessible for current dance practice as well as for research and artistic training.
