Moovy Dance Film Festival 2025 – Dance, film, and digital worlds in motion | November 14–30 | Cologne

From November 14 to 30, 2025, Moovy will once again transform Cologne into a center for dance film. We invite you to rediscover the power of dance on screen and in virtual spaces – sensual, political, experimental, and always in dialogue with the city. In its ninth edition, Moovy presents a diverse program of international films, VR and AR projects, and plenty of opportunities to participate and get involved.

Since 2017, the Moovy Dance Film Festival has been transforming the Filmforum at Museum Ludwig into a lively meeting place for dance, film and digital art in Cologne. In addition to captivating dance films, Moovy offers a platform for immersive productions – including works in virtual, augmented and mixed reality that allow dance to be experienced in completely new ways.

Moovy builds bridges – between dance, film and technology, between established artists and emerging talents. The focus is on exchange between choreographers, dancers and media artists – promoted by the festival programme as well as accompanying projects and collaborations.

There is a particular focus on interdisciplinary research and teaching. In collaboration with universities such as ifs Cologne, the University of Witten/Herdecke, the Centre for Contemporary Dance (ZZT) and the KHM, innovative projects are being developed at the interface of choreography, technology, AI and storytelling.

Another integral part of the festival is the annual symposium on dance and digitality, complemented by a diverse education programme with workshops and outreach activities for schools and young dance enthusiasts.

Moovy has a supra-regional and international impact: with its curated programmes, the festival is regularly represented on renowned stages, platforms and in partner institutions – in Germany and beyond.
