In her experimental documentary film Invisible People, Alisa Berger delves into the world of contemporary Japanese dance theatre Butoh. In addition to the masterful performers, she focuses in particular on Yoshito Ōno, son of Butoh co-founder Kazuo Ōno. Between physicality and anonymity, the art form dances around rituals, prayers, meditation and rebellion – but who are the ‘invisible people’ behind it?
