The "Reisende Salon" was a format of the AG Communication of the Ethics Commission of the Dachverband Tanz Deutschlands. As soon as more public funds are available again, the Travelling Salon will be continued.
The aim of the Reisende Salon was to engage in a dialogue at eye level on topics that move the artistic and cultural landscape. It took place as part of a dinner, during which the AG Communication provided input on a topic. The guests were then invited to discuss and listen, share personal anecdotes, reflect and engage in respectful dialogue. In the first edition, the Ethics Commission approached the concept and meaning of cultural appropriation. Despite extensive preparation by the AG Communication and a theoretical introduction, it became clear over the course of the dinner how difficult the dialogue on cultural appropriation is, as the approaches, expertise and levels of involvement were very different. We are therefore all the more grateful for the diverse perspectives that came together at one table to discuss this complex topic.
We recognise the need and necessity in the cultural landscape to create more spaces for discussion so that we can meet with more openness, understanding and willingness to learn.
Looking forward to times of coming together and listening again
