Aktion Tanz – Bundesverband Tanz in Bildung und Gesellschaft e.V.

Aktion Tanz - Bundesverband Tanz in Bildung und Gesellschaft e.V. is a nationwide association whose goal is to give all social groups access to dance as an individual form of expression and contemporary art form and to integrate it into the cultural and educational landscape as a natural part of cultural education.

The focus of Aktion Tanz's work is on quality development and assurance in the teaching of dance art with a focus on diversity, inclusion and participation. Its central task is to further strengthen dance as an art form and to anchor it in society.

It supports actors who are committed to the art of dance and show civic engagement. The work is not (any longer) exclusively concentrated on schools and children/youth. The spectrum of its activities has expanded considerably since its founding: for some years now, dance education projects have been taking place more and more at daycare centers, youth facilities, senior citizens' homes, cultural educational institutions, and in various other contexts - including intergenerational ones.

Since its founding in 2007 (at that time under the name "Bundesverband Tanz in Schulen e.V."), it has offered its members a comprehensive service in terms of public relations, professional support, self-evaluation and lobbying. It organizes conferences, initiates working groups and makes its contents available in publications and information materials. Starting from topics of quality development, networking, evaluation, professional support, research/development and inclusion/mixed ability, the association has expanded to include fields of action such as democracy development, dance in rural areas, internationalization and digitization.

Since 2013, the federal association has been a program partner of the ChanceTanz program within the framework of "Kultur macht stark. Alliances for Education" program partner of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In this context, Aktion Tanz supports several hundred dance projects with children and young people throughout Germany, thus making an important contribution to the realization of high-quality dance education opportunities for children and young people who previously had no access to this art form.
