Tanzpakt Stadt-Land-Bund

TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund is a joint initiative of municipalities, federal states and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media to promote excellence in dance.

The initiative is aimed at established artists, ensembles and production structures with international appeal. The goal is to promote substantial projects that contribute to the artistic and structural development of dance in Germany.

TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund is the result of an intensive dialogue between dance-promoting municipalities, federal states and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM). The program is an initial result of this collaboration and part of a long-term urban-rural-federal dance funding program. Since 2012, this process has been continuously brought forward by an initiative group, which developed the conceptual framework based on meetings and communication with the dance scene. It formed from the umbrella organization Tanz Deutschland, DIEHL + RITTER gUG, K3 - Zentrum für Choreographie Hamburg | Tanzplan Hamburg, Tanzbüro Berlin and TanzSzene Baden-Württemberg. Since 2021, the NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK, the Federal German Ballet and Dance Theater Directors' Conference and the nrw landesbüro tanz have been involved.

An essential part of the work of TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund is the constant dialogue with municipalities and federal states in order to achieve a sustainable and forward-looking promotion of dance.

The Dachverband Tanz Deutschland and DIEHL + RITTER gUG run the support program in a cooperative capacity. DIEHL + RITTER gUG is responsible for the conception, shaping and implementation of the newly established support fund.

The Dachverband Tanz Deutschland is responsible for the entire cultural-political process in order to consolidate projects and strengthen dance at the municipal and state level as well. As a carrier of the cultural-political dialogue, the umbrella organization realizes numerous discussions, network meetings and consultations with the actors of the dance scene, the representatives of cultural offices, state ministries and cultural policy at the municipal, state and federal level.
